Our commitment to musical excellence in every community

Our commitment to young string players and the programs that give them the opportunities to perform and learn goes beyond the services provided by our nationwide rental and sales programs. In an ongoing effort to strengthen orchestra programs around the United States and Canada, it is our policy to donate all used instruments to needy programs, particularly inner city schools who are trying to begin new music programs.

Many school programs do not have enough money to purchase sufficient inventory, and many times, the students in those programs cannot afford to rent or purchase an instrument themselves. We are happy to provide our quality, nearly new instruments to these appreciative programs, and hope that the orchestra programs at these recipient schools grow and enrich the lives of the students.

Our high quality rental instruments are kept in circulation for only 6-8 years, as opposed to the typical 15-20 year life of many music store rentals. In addition, our instruments undergo a thorough, yearly inspection by trained, respected luthiers and repairs are made as necessary in order to assure that our professional setup and high quality standards are maintained for the life of the instrument.

StringWorks has recently launched a yearly scholarship known as the Todd M. French/StringWorks Talent Award for Strings at Illinois Wesleyan University.  Our support of music begins with the youngest students of violin, viola, and cello, continues through the University years in development for performing careers, and through into the professional world.
