I have a Soloist I now which I like.

But I have the itch to upgrade.

Are any models noted for a good fiddle sound?

Thanks

I should also note that a lot of fiddle players say you don't need an expensive instrument and even a $300.00 one would be fine. But I do notice a huge difference in a $300.00 one I rented and the soloist I. I am curious if I would notice a similar improvement going up a notch or two.

Yes you will notice similar improvement. I was playing a Virtuoso which I love, but then I got a Michael Todd II...WOW!!!! I didn't think it'd be that big of a difference. As for the fiddle sound...try using steel strings instead of nylon or synthetic.
