Needed some tweaking on my MTII cello and took it to a violin maker here in Florida. He looked it over and commented on how nice an instrument it is. Then he asked what I had paid and remarked that I had gotten a really good deal. He said that he had just seen the same cello disguised as something else and the price was twice what I paid.

Joan, This is fantastic! It is always good to have unbiased feedback that positive from another expert... I do have to wonder, however, how he believes he saw another just like it, disguised as something else. I wonder if someone sold one and a violin shop changed the label to charge more money for it... |

Joan, I can relate to how good that feels to get an unbiased compliment from a good luthier. I mean really, what did I know about cellos at all back then? That really gives me confidence and gave them my business. A few years back, the luthier from Kolsteins on Long Island also said I got a good deal on Laura's MTII. Needless to say, Todd was happy to hear that then too. |

Todd, he referenced a private dealer (which shall remain nameless) and my impression is that the label was changed so they could charge twice the price. I also had the chance to try out several consignment cellos in his showroom, prices to $20,000, and I was happy to be leaving with my MTII and a new bow. |
