Kenwood Elementary School proudly announces the addition of Kenwood Symphonic Strings to its curriculum. This is an exciting new program offering lessons on orchestral string instruments including the Violin, the Viola, the Cello, and the String Bass.

Classes are offered to any public, private or home-schooled student in the 3rd, 4th or 5th grade living in the Kenwood Elementary school zone. Gifted students attending Kenwood will also be invited to enroll in the program. In addition to their regular music classes, students will meet during the school day for 30 minute lessons twice a week.

The program is under the direction of Miss Liz Aylor.  In addition to being Kenwood Elementary’s music teacher, Miss Aylor is Concertmaster of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and is a Violist with the Pensacola Symphony.

Violins, Violas, and Cellos may be rented and taken home for daily practice for a nominal rental fee throughout the school year, or other arrangements can be made.  A String Bass will be available at the school for lessons.

Music is an integral part of everyone’s life.  Recent research has shown that children exposed to classical music have shown improvement in their academic studies.  Involvement in instrumental music can also bring enjoyment that is an important part of one’s emotional development.

Kenwood Elementary is pleased to enhance its well-rounded music program with Kenwood Symphonic Strings to bring enjoyment and enrichment to our children’s education which will last a lifetime.
