A rare chance to buy the model that made the Soloist famous - Soloist I - and still new (we didn't know we had it, and it's 'new' but from our 2005-2006 'vintage'!!)! This model was known not only for its beautiful dark varnish, but for its soloistic tone, which is how it got its name.
Here's the description as we had on our website, circa 2006:
"We have designed this instrument line based almost entirely on the most common requests and preferences from our customers, developing an instrument actually designed by you - the customer!!
With a dark reddish brown varnish, one-piece back (on violin and viola), a clear, open, and even tone, and the typical StringWorks standard of high quality, the Soloist is an instrument suitable for the advanced string player searching for a more soloistic quality to their instruments' sound. A rich and deep lower register and a more brilliant and clean upper register sets this line apart from its similar counterpart in the StringWorks Maestro
Each is entirely handmade with aged European and Himalayan woods, all highly flamed and well figured, fitted with high quality ebony fittings, and finished carefully with a supple oil varnish. We invite you to contact us to discuss whether the Soloist is the perfect instrument for you!"
Tonal review: Brilliant, colorful tone with great resonance. Good balance and complexity throughout.
